RMS Beauty Straight Up Volumizing Peptide Mascara, aside from being a mouthful to say, is a decent mascara. However, it doesn’t separate lashes as well as most synthetic mascaras and even some natural ones. It is resilient, not flaking or smudging at all, so is for ‘all-day wear’, as advertised.
About RMS Beauty
The brainchild of Rose-Marie Swift, RMS Beauty was formed in 2009 to establish a higher industry standard of cosmetics with healthier, safer ingredients. She was a make-up artist for over 30 years before deciding to produce her own products; to further beautify women whilst remaining true to her pursuit for clean ingredients.
This mascara costs over £20 for the normal size and just over £10 for the travel size. The wand is large compared to others I’ve tried, so the application takes time to master. This product is gluten-free and suitable for vegans. The packaging is also fully recyclable.
RMS Beauty Mascara is prone to clumping, so I advise you to wipe the wand on the top of the mascara bottle before application. This will improve lash separation. I don’t curl my lashes beforehand though, so curling may reduce clumping. You may also need to wipe the mascara off and reapply it a few times before you get the desired ‘clump-free’ look.
Oligopeptides contained within the product fortify and rejuvenate lashes. Whilst natural starch and polymer ensure lashes are well lengthened and smear-free. In addition, shea butter preserves and conditions lashes, and mineral-derived iron oxide delivers the deep black colour.
Overall, I found this mascara to be good. Not as great as some other natural mascaras (PHB Ethical Beauty All in One Mascara), but a decent buy. It does tend to cause lash clumping, but this can be rectified by curling or by wiping the brush on the bottle top before application. It stands up well to the elements; my visage remained smudge and flake-free after a 15.5-mile walk complete with mist, rain, and lots of wind!
