Over the years, I’ve tried quite a few natural mascaras and I still like to try new brands to see how they compare. Not long ago I tested Natorigin mascara which was great but not so much lengthening so I wanted to get myself a new mascara, something that will add a little bit more length to my eyelashes. Inika Long Lash Mascara seemed perfect for this purpose. I read lots of good reviews about it online and I really like that it’s 100% natural and does not contain synthetic preservatives and phenoxyethanol. It’s vegan and suitable for sensitive eyes as well.

First impressions
When I apply the mascara for the first time, I can see it definitely lengthens my lashes more than Natorigin’s mascara. I am really pleased with that.
Inika Long Lash Mascara doesn’t feel too wet which makes me realise that Natorigin’s mascara felt much wetter initially.
I love the size of the brush, it’s not too big and it reminds me slightly of the Green People’s mascara brush (which I love, by the way).
If I make a mistake and apply some mascara onto my skin instead of eyelashes, I can easily remove it with a cotton bud and some water.
Inika’s mascara seems to separate the lashes well although I must be careful not to apply too much at once to avoid lashes sticking together. I use the end of the brush to reach short lashes in the corners although I am probably not that successful at making them stand out more (they are too short).
While the mascara is drying, it doesn’t leave any blackness around my eyes. I feel it dries quite quickly and gives my eyes some nice definition although I don’t think I get this wow effect straight away. I try with the second coat. Now we are talking! I am slowly getting there. The second coat gives much more volume and length and makes my eyes stand out more. I love this effect! It also doesn’t leave my eyes feeling heavy which is another big plus.
This is definitely the kind of mascara I’ve been looking for although in the beginning I wasn’t sure but the second coat saves the day. Now I come to the conclusion that this is a great mascara for daytime but you can create a more drastic look by applying more coats for the evening look. Just be careful not to apply too much or your eyelashes will stick together. The texture is clump-free but with time this may change as the mascara gets older.
The mascara stays on all day and it doesn’t flake at all or smudge, as long as I don’t touch my eyes by accident. It’s not waterproof so be careful when it’s raining!
How does Inika Long Lash Mascara compare to other natural mascaras that I’ve tried?
I think PHB Ethical Beauty Mascara gives a slightly more dramatic effect and in comparison to Natorigin’s mascara which I tested recently, I definitely like Inika Long Lash Mascara more. It’s because the brush is slightly smaller and it seems easier to apply but also because it gives more length to my lashes.
Green People’s mascara gives a similar lengthening effect but not so much volume.
In terms of ingredients, Inika’s Long Lash mascara is more natural – it doesn’t contain phenoxyethanol which is something that PHB’s mascara contains.
What does my fiance think?
I was so excited about my new mascara and its effect that I couldn’t wait to ask my fiance what he thinks of my eyes. He wouldn’t have noticed anything of course if I didn’t point it out at my eyes (a typical man!).
So this is how our conversation goes…
Me: “Do you like my eyes?”
Him: “Yes, they are beautiful, I love them.”
Me: “But… check again, what do you think of my eyes?”
He then looks more closely and his first reaction is: “Are you wearing fake eyelashes?? You know I don’t like anything fake!”
I burst out in laughter. “No, of course not, I am not wearing fake eyelashes, does it look like I am?”
Him: “I don’t know, I’ve never seen your eyelashes that long.”
Me: “Ok, that’s cool. Does it look nice?”
My fiance: “Yes, it looks nice. Very nice.”
Cool, so I got some really good feedback from my fiance. It must be such a marvelous mascara then! His first reaction was hilarious though.

Inika Long Lash Mascara – Cons

- it’s recommended to replace it every 3-6 months
The final verdict
Inika Long Lash Mascara is definitely one of the best natural mascaras that I’ve ever tried. I have to continue testing it for a little bit longer but at the moment it’s definitely number 1 for me. That’s because it gives my eyelashes the length I am after and at the same time it’s volumising as well.
It stays on all day and doesn’t flake at all. It’s easy to apply and I love that it’s 100% natural.
It’s a little bit pricy but if you want a good quality mascara that won’t disappoint you, this is the price definitely worth paying.
