Neal’s Yard Remedies Frankincense Intense Eye Cream Review

Lately, I’ve started to notice that fine lines around my eye area are getting much more noticeable so I thought it was time to try a new eye cream. I’ve decided to test Frankincense Intense™ Age-Defying Eye Cream from Neal’s Yard Remedies as it claims to “visibly reduce fine lines & wrinkles with a 3-Peptide Complex”.

This high-end eye cream also has plumping and depuffing properties but does it actually work? In this review, you will find out how I got on with it and whether I recommend it if you want to reduce the appearance of fine lines around your eye area.

Key ingredients

The ingredient list is quite long so I am not going to analyse every single ingredient in detail here. However, in summary, this eye cream is made with 82% organic ingredients and contains different types of natural oils, butters, extracts and essential oils.

The main ingredients in this cream that will help your skin to improve are as follows:

• A 3-Peptide Complex – peptides are proven to reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles, reduce inflammation and repair damaged skin.
• Gardenia stem cells – encourage the synthesis of new collagen and help enhance skin plumpness
• Sodium hyaluronate – this form of hyaluronic acid has a low molecular weight and can penetrate deep into the skin, hydrating it from within. This helps to plump the skin.
• Caffeine (extracted from organic green tea) – when caffeine is applied topically, it offers several benefits to the skin, including protecting it from damage, brightening and depuffing. These effects are only short-lived though.
• Argan oil – high in antioxidants it helps protect the skin from environmental damage. It has moisturising, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-ageing properties.
• Frankincense – this essential oil doesn’t only have a therapeutic scent, it also has several benefits for the skin such as healing and soothing properties and rejuvenating effect.

Review

Over the years, I’ve tried several natural eye creams but I haven’t quite found the one that would really impress me so much to repurchase. Before I go into a detailed review I want to say that Neal’s Yard Remedies Frankincense Intense™ Eye Cream definitely impressed me. It’s in no way perfect but it does work and I would happily repurchase it.

Texture

This eye cream’s texture is so much different from the lightweight eye creams I’ve tried in the past. It’s quite thick and creamy and feels very nourishing. It’s not greasy though.

Since the cream is so thick I don’t find it that easy to spread which is one of the negatives of this product. However, applying this cream to damp skin solves this problem.

So, what I do first is spray a rose water toner on my face and then dot the cream around the eye area. This makes the cream much easier to apply. It doesn’t absorb that quickly though but the skin feels nice afterwards and you can easily use makeup on top if you like.

Scent

The scent is pleasant and subtle but still therapeutic and can help you relax and de-stress.

Packaging

The cream comes in a 15ml glass jar which is protected with a cardboard box. While the packaging is well made, not everybody will like dispensing the product from the jar with their fingers, especially if they have long fingernails.

Results

In the beginning, I didn’t feel the cream was doing much for my skin around the eyes apart from hydrating which helped to minimise the appearance of fine lines only ever so slightly.

I could not wait to see some improvement and I was examining my eye area carefully every couple of days or so, only to be disappointed that my fine lines are still visible too much for my liking.

I know very well that any kind of eye cream may take weeks before it starts to work and show any improvement but still, I was hoping this cream was different. It wasn’t.

I then stopped obsessing over my eye area and just made sure I applied the cream regularly – morning and night.

I started testing at the beginning of the month and at the end of the month, I examined my eye area again. Finally, there was an improvement and without any doubt, my fine lines were looking much better! It was actually a quite big improvement. This cream actually works! I thought that my dark circles also looked slightly better.

While the fine lines have not disappeared, I can barely see them now, when before they were quite visible and I thought that I was starting to look pretty old!

If these are the results so far, I cannot wait to see what happens in one month’s time. Finally, a natural eye cream that is definitely a keeper. It is not cheap but given these results so worth it! You can get it directly from the brand’s website, from Amazon and other retailers.
